Its the first week of September and I’m starting to divide and pot up plants for next year for all our lovely customers. Today it seemed a good idea to dig up some Viola odorata ‘Alba’ from the garden. Although we’ve had some rain in the last few days the ground was very dry and hard. Eventually a decent clump was extracted from the garden which I then split up and made 50 plants. These will be potted on later into 1 litre sized pots and put outside to overwinter.
Incidentally this plant was grown in both peat-free and peat-based compost last year, the peat-free survived the harsh winter but those in peat compost all died.
Good Idea! we shall need lots for next year!
Appreciated the share!
