I really can’t believe that it is April. I’m wearing the same clothes all winter and still wearing layer upon layer. We are flooded, again and more rain is forecast, or it might be snow, we shall see. It’s so frustrating not being able to get on and do what I need to get done. The potting of plants is going slowly because I have very little space left to put newly potted plants and daren’t put many outside because it’s just too cold. I need to do some planting where there are gaps, I want to give the roses some rose feed and most of all I would like to feel some warmth in the air and some sunshine on my back.

The plants are hardly growing anyway so there won’t be much for sale for quite a while. It’s not just me either. I tried to order a few plants from a wholesaler and he had less than half of the ones I’d ordered. I would suggest that any plants available from supermarkets and chain store will have been grown in heated glasshouses which will produce soft plants which in turn will not do well if put outside in the cold and wet.

It’s rather incredible that the bulbs I planted in the drive border back in the autumn are nearly all up and flowering in spite of sitting in puddles of water, I feel sure that some of them are rotting underground, time will tell.

I think you should grow pond plants from now on!! Or bog plants! It’s rubbish.

Hope the glorious recent weather has improved things and everything is now thriving! Looking forward to my first visit to Bridge Nursery today.
