A funny thing has just occurred to me……no-one this year has said that they would love to have my job. I wonder why that is???

More rain this morning but at least it was mostly just showers so I decided to get the trolley and remove some of the spent poppies and weeds as I went round the soggy, boggy borders. Cut back the flowering stems of Euphorbias and Heleanthemums. Also cut off the seed heads of Geranium ‘Mrs Kendall Clark’ so that it doesn’t get chance to spread around any more. It was a stop/start working day in between the showers but at least there are now 2 trolley loads of rubbish on the bonfire pile rather than in the garden. I also hard pruned a Salix melanostachys partly because it was growing over a path but also because there was some canker in it. The bonfire heap is growing larger but its far too wet to burn at the moment.
