At last, the weather was fine, my helper Pat was available and we had 5 solid hours of cutting things back, weeding and general tidying. Masses of bees were out on the pussy willows. I felt warm, a rare feeling this year. Now I ache all over. It looks a bit better but there is still an air of bedraggledness about the garden. Even the grass is a strange colour, maybe it needs some fertilizer. The garden opened for the National Garden Scheme on 1st of this month but there really isn’t much to see just yet. The weather forecast for the weekend looks good so I suspect that the plants will burst into life or at least I hope so. Due to the rather tardy season there aren’t many plants ready for sale yet so the sales beds are looking a bit sparse but hopefully that will change during the next 3 or 4 weeks. After such a long dreary time its hard to imagine the garden coming back to life.
