There seems to be very little chance of getting any winter gardening done this year due to the excessive amount of rain we’ve had. The ground is absolutely saturated and there is plenty of water lying on the surface. Its all very depressing. Normally it is such a good time to weed, plant and move things around but its impossible on our heavy clay soil to do anything. I’ve moved lots of plants into the polytunnel today so that when the frosts come the roots won’t succumb and rot away.

I picked the last few stems of Aster ‘Monte Cassino’ to bring home for a vase and added some coloured stems of willow. That is looking good sat on a bookcase in the corner.
