I got back from Turkey on 5th October rather shattered by the amount of rushing around we did while I was there. temperatures were in the low 30’s and there had been no rain since May. Consequently everywhere was brown and dusty. There were few flowering plants to be seen except the ubiquitus bouganvillia. So it was rather good to get back to the green landscape of the UK.

The weekend of the 6th/7th was glorious, plenty of sunshine and very little wind. I felt too tired to do much on the Saturday but admire all the beautiful autumn flowering plants including asters, rudbeckias and the ornamental grasses. It was still too wet to garden on Sunday after the inch and a half of rain during the end of the week so I trimmed a few plants back in the sales area and served customers.

Yesterday was another fine and warm day and ideal for working in the garden all day. Where have all the weeds come from??? I think I removed 3 barrows full and there’s plenty more to do.
