The contrast between now and the last post is about as extreme as it could be. Our rain gauge has measured three and a half inches in the last week. Its also cold, very grey and windy. Is it really June? Just two weeks away from midsummers day.

I’ve been doing some frenetic weeding inbetween the rain, also pulling out barrow load after barrow load of forget-me-nots. My rubber gloves all the while protecting me from a vast population of slugs and snails which are completely annihilating some plants. The lupins are wrecked and some of the recently planted asters are nibbled to ground level, I suspect they are unlikely to recover. There are endless anthills of red ants usually in the middle of a clump of something special, how come they don’t drown in the water logged soil.
