Help. I appear to be doing something wrong. I stroll up to potential customers to see if they would like some help and sometimes get a suspicious look as if to say – why are you talking to me??? Obviously this doesn’t happen all the time and there are many people who seem to welcome the advice and assistance that is on offer. There are also many ‘regulars’ who are more like friends than customers. I blame it on the ‘sheds’ where one can go shopping without ever having to speak to anyone. If help is needed in one of these chain store one is often unlikely to find any staff who know the answers to the customers questions.

So what should I do? Leave everyone to fend for themselves? Or carry on approaching everyone and refuse to be demoralised when I get the cold shoulder?
